I'm trying to figure out what I need for a power/charging circuit for the laptop. The screen I have is 12 volt 2 amp and of course I'll need 5 volts for the pi and at least 2 amps. I don't know enough about electronics to figure out what I need to google. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

I've been reading up on this sort of thing myself recently and if you're wanting to hook it up to mains power I would advise a great degree of caution if you don't have any formal training either in electrical or electronic engineering - which I don't.

What you're probably looking for are step down transformers to drop your mains voltage to 12v / 5v but I wouldn't even think about attempting to make one myself due to the risks involved if things went wrong.

If electrical work is unfamiliar territory then I'd recommend positioning the your components in such a way that the power inputs can easily be reached with an off the shelf charger - less elegant but also much less risky.
