SD card trouble

Wed Jul 06, 2016 5:42 am

Hello all!
I wasn't sure where to put this but I am having a lot of issues with my SD cards.
I just bought a new Pi 3 today and in hopes of using it I tried to download the Windows 10 core, Ubuntu, and Kali linux. When i first plug my SD card into my computer it has an issue and i must erase my card and reformat it (I always reformat it to ms-dos(FAT))
I then use the Pi Filler application to add the OS onto the card and it gets to the last 2 seconds an a card read error occurs and suggests that if there is a lock switch on my card to try switching it to unlock. Then when I unplug the card and plug it back in, it says it can't be read and the vicious cycle starts all over again.
Now I obviously know how to lock and unlock the SD card and it is unlocked. I even tried both ways just to make sure I was not crazy.
Has anyone else had any type of issue like this? Any suggestions will help, thank you!
(PS: I have a macbook pro and I have 3 16 GB sands cards and it is happening to all three of them)

Yes not correctly creating the card is common, if you are sure it is not a fake SD Card, then would suggest you use PiBaker:

Thank you! I will download it and try it out. I know they aren't fake, I bought them myself at Office Max.

It does not state only NOOBS:

Some key points:
It’s FREE!
Easy detection of the SD-Card device
Quick creation of NOOBS disk
Fast flashing of an IMG file to SD-Card
Easy way to create an IMG backup of your SD-Card

Though for Windows 10 IoT Core it is best undertaken on a Windows Machine:

Thank you again, but I'm still having issues. I can't select the images in PiBaker.
