Which OS?

I just got my Raspberry PI 3 and I don't know which OS to get it i like Ubuntu mate for looks and Raspbian for dependability. I know that ubuntu mat eis being throughly up graded. Any ideas?

Either are good places to start, but it depends on what you primarily want to do with your Pi.

Its not an either | or... its definitely a both | and ...

... its just another SD card (one Ubuntu, one Raspbian). Play with both and report back which one you like best and why??

That said, my preference is Raspbian.

I am using it for school and programming which i am still learning so it wouldn't be advanced

Can you be more specific?

Raspbian has lots of programming languages installed by default with more available with apt-get.

Like for programming app design Ruby,Java, Html? those things and for school typing up papers and internet.

raspbian can definetly do all that and more

Thanks for the advice I will most likely get 2 sd cards and try both out.

Everyone who has to ask in the beginners sections of the forum should be looking at installing Raspbian from a NOOBS SDCard.
