Fri Aug 10, 2012 1:21 pm

I am trying to format my 16gb Debian SD card to try and put Raspbian on it... When I go to format in windows it says that it will format it to 75mb... WTF. it is an 16gb SD card. How will I get back all of its space???

This is normal.

A Windows PC will only understand a Windows partition, it cannot see a Linux partition.

For full instructions see
http://elinux.org/RPi_Easy_SD_Card_Setup

There was also a very good tutorial in one of the early editions (probably 2) of the free MagPi magazine

Pretty sure you can also remove the partition by going into Management -> Disk Management under Windows

Return to “Beginners”
