Is this safe?

I don't know if this is under the right section, but since I'm a beginner and complete noob in all of this, why not.

So, this Saturday I purchased my own Raspberry Pi 3 B model set (including case, wires, etc.) and a Raspberry Pi Zero with the essential kit along with a sense HAT at the party for it in Cambridge. As I live far away from it, it was cheaper to buy a hotel and spend the night there to go back the next day. While I was in the hotel room, I decided to look at the Raspberries and see if the raspberry pi 3 would fit inside the case with the sense HAT. After a quick try, it was obvious that the sense HAT was too big to fit in the case that came with the Pi 3 set. My friend however, who is also new to Raspberry Pi, had an idea. He took a forty pin adapter and put it on where the sense HAT would go, making the pins slightly higher and in his mind, establish a connection from the sense HAT to the board while hanging out of the case. Although, that wasn't the case and now the adapter looks stuck on there. Is it safe to pull it off as it will require some force or is it safer to leave it on and have a sense HAT just laying around?
