As the subject, I am looking for a way to pw protect a single folder in my NAS drive like a pw protect excel spreadsheet but in this case, it is the entire folder. Thanks in advance.

The common way in Linux is the use of encfs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EncFS

It has limitations on the length of file names etc. But it is relatively easy to set up.
