Hello,

I am using my pi with read only file system using http://petr.io/2015/11/09/read-only-ras ... th-jessie/ this post as a guide.

I just have a simple question regarding this part "apt-get install busybox-syslogd; dpkg --purge rsyslog". My questiion is can I just purge rsyslog and not install busybox-syslogd.

The pi will be at a remote location and there is no way I could check the logs even if I wanted to. If I understand correct because the file system on my pi is read only the busybox logs write to ram and get deleted when there is no power. It is ok to just not install busybox-syslogd and have no logs at all.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

That article you linked to says
# replace log management with busybox,
So if you don't want log management, don't install it.

That article also states (at the top)
A work-in-progress scratchpad to get...
It doesn't explain what and why. I have not read it too closely so I don't know how reliable it is ;)
