Raspberry Pi Forums

(I am brand new to raspberry pi and i have never use one before).
I bought the Pi because i have a really cool idea i would like to be able to setup for my house.
What i want to be able to do is program a "Siri" like program to complete tasks when asked such as "Play {playlist} from Spotify" and other functionality such as "Turn my TV on and change the channel to ...".

So my first question is how advanced of a Python programmer should i be i know it a little but not to an advanced level.

So the stuff that i currently assume i need:

• Pi
  Speakers
  Microphones
  Infa-red light (idk what there called)

Also are there already some pre-made programs that i could utilize?
