Watching youtube within browser?

Wed Dec 09, 2015 1:06 am

I just got my raspberry pi today and set everything up and it is now running the raspbien os. I started up the browser and immediately went to youtube and experienced extreme fps issues. I looked online and someone said to download the epiphany browser and enable html 5 on youtube. The results were not as good as I would have liked. Can anyone else help? Thanks.

You don't say which model Pi that you have. The Pi2 gives reasonable performance, but the other models are not so good. You will need to get used to running as few applications as you need to reduce the load on the Pi. It may be usual on a standard laptop to run the browser, a word processor, a spreadsheet and perhaps a game all at the same time. The laptop is powerful enough to do this; the other Pis are not (but they are cheap!)

I purchased the pi 2 b and I don't run multiple applications at a time. And also, I can watch youtube videos with ok frames if i keep the video small.

Me too... Extreme frame drops

Thu Dec 10, 2015 12:58 pm

Hi everyone... I too have a Raspi2b (China make) and have just set off on the path to becoming a Raspyhead (if there is such a thing!)... I have used Ubuntu and Lubuntu and am familiar enough with the terminal and using the command line that I have already made several tweaks such as getting rid of the black border on my TV HDMI display and setting Google as my default search engine on Epiphany... However, I too have been facing a massive frame drop issue when playing Youtube videos in fullscreen mode (minimised is fine)... I ran Epiphany through the terminal and I've posted the errors I got below (The first couple of errors showed up right when I started Epiphany and I then navigated to Youtube and played two videos one after the other in fullscreen)... Any suggestions, anyone? Much appreciate any assistance...

Noob. Has had a couple of Pi 2b+ boards for a couple of years. Looking to do more than set up Kodi media centres :)
