installation for 8gb SD card

Sat Jul 28, 2012 10:23 pm

Hi,

I have installed wheezy on 8gb sd card, but it says 5.5gb is unallocated and when i tried to install opencv and prerequired packages, RP gives no space left error. I check the free space on it, that was terrible : 55mb free space over 1.5gb .

Anyway, is there a way to use the other 5.5gb ? How can i merge that partitions ? If i cannot, do you know a image for 8gb sd ?

Thanks,

I'm having the same problem with a 32Gb card.

On the initial Start-Up and Boot Config menu there is an option to increase the root partition to use all of the card.

I selected that option but still came back with a 'no room left' error while trying to download some packages.

Is there a Disk Manager available for Raspbian yet?

Hello,
You can extend the partition with GParted with the computer you used to format the SD card, too.
Personally, I have extended mine at first boot with the raspi-config and it worked.

Just to clarify here, the 'partition resizing' process, when selected under 'raspi-config is not actually performed until the next time the RasPi is restarted, and a text message is displayed at that time.
