Help smoothing out my experience

I'm using the Pi as a camera for a blind spot. Would like a little help for the whole setting up to me more streamlined.

1. Is there a way I can have the Pi run a command as soon as it boots without any input. Example: Running a "raspivid" command for a display.

2. Easiest way to shutdown? I'd like an option if I could tap one key or something. Or better yet, if there was a hardware option, for a button to be clicked to active the "Sudo halt command"

Not exactly what you want, unless you need to record the video, but might help you..

Uses a button to shutdown and looking through the thread should help you run it at boot.
