Bluray messages

Fri Sep 25, 2015 11:01 pm

Just got my first device. It is a rpi2 B. I have osmc working with my network storage and am working on a remote. I have a blu-Ray player that turns on the tv which is a Sony Bravia and it turns the tv off when the player is turned off. I think is has to do with messaging that happens over HDMI. Is there a way to control the TV from the Pi this way?

Thanks!

Yes, it is due to HDMI CEC and it works with the Pi. I don't have experience with the generic distros like Raspbian if they include the right software but the multimedia ones like OSMC and Openelec do include said software and use it fine.

Thanks! I looked it up and it should do what I want- do you know of any resources that stand out on it? I lost my TV remote and want to set up the Pi with a power button that will turn the Pi off and include the TV in the startup and shutdown. Also, is it possible to pass a power off command to the TV after a playlist completes in OSMC?

Thanks!
