My pi2b will not run the keyboard

Thu Sep 03, 2015 8:23 am

I have used samsung adapters to power it on. 2a ,1a and 700 ma seperately. Wall outlet is 220 volts here. Neither times, the keyboard would not light up. Mouse lights up ok by the way. Ethernet also works fine. I have tried 2 keyboards to no avail.
I bought the item 2 weeks ago and still couldnt use it. Because remote ssh session would also not work at first boot. I need keyboards to use it and I just can't . It really sucks!
Should I power the usb ports seperately?
I searched through the forums and I couldnt find a real answer to this.
thanks for your help.

Try a third keyboard, or try to swap the port used by the mouse and keyboard.
This should not be a problem!
If you don't get rainbow icon warnings in the top right screen, then you have no power problems.

I hear your frustrations, but providing some facts will help others to assist.

Which Operating System have you installed?

Is your keyboard directly connected via usb, or is it using some form of wireless connection?

Do you know that the keyboard is in working condition - does it light up if you use it with some other system?

With the Raspbian Operating System, an ssh connection is most definitely possible from the LOCAL lan at first boot. (Connecting from an IP address beyond the local LAN is more complicated, for reasons completely unrelated to the RPi.)

if you want use remote ssh / headless anyway why not use RASPBIAN ONLY image ( ssh.. works 15sec after powerup )
( there is a way for noobs also, using silent install, but difficult )

Hello

Thanks for your replies, and you were right in asking the OS I use; the OS I installed was Kali 2.0.1 for raspberry. I reimaged to raspbian and both keyboard and ssh was ok. I used both a noname and a logitech keyboard with linux support and Kali would not support them, neither I can ssh to it. I hope guys in Offensive security could hear me!!

Thanks for your help.
