Scavenging parts from tablet

Wed Aug 19, 2015 12:01 pm

Hey!

I know the topic might be a little bit.. confusing, but let me explain:

I have had an Samsung Galaxy Tab3 7" version, collecting dust for over a year now. It is unusable, as the tablet is bricked (I tried to update Android, and the updater software crashed, leaving me practically empty tablet, with 1/5 of Android left..) For a long time I tried to find a way to get it fixed (and I'm sure that there is a way to get it fixed in some way, which may, or may not, involve witchcraft) but I never got it back to life.

So to the point:
I have been thinking about installing my RasPi2 into my car. I have an 7" TFT display (had one collecting dust) and it turned out to be a really bad display (you see something, if you look directly at it) and I got an Idea of using my tablet as the screen + touch controls. The tablet cannot be turned on, so I would be scavenging the parts from it. I opened the tablet, and after a while, I decided not to go on without any further information.

So would it be possible? If so, how?

Probably a lot easier to unbrick the tablet than do anything useful with its parts.
