Can a raspberry pi do this?

I've just ordered my first raspberry pi.

I'm not too familiar with computer programming (I took intro to programming in college, however) and I'm not at all familiar with the raspberry pi, having never touched one.

That being said, I'm interested in using it as a way of digitally organizing my families daily tasks.

I'm interested in using a monitor to display a schedule of chores/events that updates each day.

I also want to have some kind of voice-recognition software so that I could ask the computer about the weather, road conditions, etc. as well as add/remove things from the schedule that it displays on the monitor.

Is this too much for a raspberry pi?

I'm sorry if my question is stupid. Like I said, I'm new to all of this.

I would say that a Pi can do this.

This may be related:

And for the voice controlling, look at Jasper.

Sorry if i don't add much info, but i think this is perfectly feasible.

Notice that RPI2 nowadays have 4x700Mhz processor, 512 MB of RAM. It has enough resources for your project ;)
