Need help configuring access point

Wed Jul 08, 2015 11:51 am

I am setting up a Raspberry Pi as a wi-fi router using this guide:
https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a ... t/overview
And have some questions.

1. I am using is RTL8188 wi-fi usb dongle, and fail to understand what driver name should I write to /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf . How do I know whether I do have a driver installed or not, which exactly and it's status?

2. My ISP uses MAC-address based authentication, everything else being assigned automatically. Is this the correct entry in /etc/network/interfaces ?

Code: Select all

allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
  hwaddress ether <my_mac_address_here>
3. I would like to run UFW for security. Should I just allow all traffic from local subnetwork and stick to defaults otherwise, or are there some tricks?
