Raspbmc or Xbmc

Sun Jul 15, 2012 8:46 pm

Hi all,

I installed today my raspberry that is used by my children mostly with tuxpaint and scratch.

I wanted to install a media player and i discovered that exist an os focused on xbmc.

The question is what is best for me? I dont want a media center, I want a computer that sometimes make a media center.

Thanks in advance, this raspberry is amazing!

If you can afford it, buy another SD card and have both.

You could also consider openElec 4 Debian.
Search for it on this forum :)

I agree Pokmnjo. Have a SD card for each occasion. I found openelec a bit clumsy but raspbmc much better. They both run xmbc it is how the underlying os has been built that makes the difference. Raspbmc is the simplest to install but you do have to be online and it can take 10 - 15 min depending on your network speed. It may be psychological but I found things ran a lot smoother using a class 10 card rather than a class 4 card.
