Distro Questions

Thu May 14, 2015 6:40 am

Hi all just got my first Pi and although comfortable with Linux, have a few questions regarding which distro is best for the PI.
My requirements as follows:

1) A small distro with a light gui but with access to a good repo.

2) Same as above but no gui (different application).

3) In either case, must log in automatically with no human intervention and be root.

4) The distros must be able to be remounted as read only as the Pi's will be used in an application where power can be disconnected at any time so don't want data corruption on the card.

Any help greatly appreciated.

P.S. sorry if I have posted in the wrong section but still trying to find my way around the forum.

Thank you for your replies.
I did look initially at Raspbian but somehow got the impression that it could not be mounted read only.

@ fruitoftheloom

That is a great find thank you.
Exactly what I'm looking for, your Google must be a newer version than mine. :)
