Audio files are played by software (to be) installed on the Pi. Omxplayer is installed by default and plays almost anything. There are lots of different programs for audio playback, command line and GUI.

WowZee,
I've never seen the word Omxplayer in any raspberry pages yet. I've not seen it my pi2B GUI either.
I will look in both folders for it.
pi2b is linux, I guess I will have to hunt and hunt. Eventually maybe find a cmd to play audio.

Would be nice if rasPi folks or web pages would lend a hand. I don't think that help is coming.

I remain Cluless about Audio.
RasPi Please help me somehow.

Omxplayer is a command line program. You won't find it in the menu (which shows only programs with a GUI).

Open lxterminal and run:
omxplayer pathtofile
It will play almost any audio and most video files (for some you need the additional codec licenses).

If you want a GUI for omxplayer you can install my kweb (Minimal Kiosk Browser) package. It contains omxplayerGUI which will also appear in the program menu.

There are lots of other audio applications available. Install synaptic which has a search function built in for detecting programs which can be installed from the repository.
