moving root filesystem to different USB drive

Tue Apr 28, 2015 10:13 am

Some weeks ago I decided to move the root filesystem to a USB drive. I used a spare 300GB hard drive I had that was doing nothing. Using the process I found in these forums I successfully did this and it has been fine.

I now want to transfer the root filesystem from this 300GB hard drive to a 128GB USB SSD drive. Obviously I do not want to loose all my work - how can I move the hard drive contents to the smaller SSD? I did a search but could not find any clues - I have some Linux experience, but not in this area.

Thanks, JMK8
