Need some help!

Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:03 pm

I have my RPI a few days and im stuck with a couple things:

- I have an Lexar 8gb 400x speed sdhc card (new kernel worked fine)
Only problem the space is reduced to a small 2gb... Any solutions? [Solved]

- Want to place the RPI on another location (my company) Any possibility to
remotely put files on the RPI (like dropbox)?

- How do i let the RPI see my NAS?

If you have any solutions please by as specific as possible i'm a newbee ;-)

If you used a Debian Squeeze image you'll need to resize the partitions yourself.

If you use the Debian Wheezy (my preferred image at the moment), it will do it for you during the first run.

Creating shared folders and copying files to them from another machine is almost certainly doable, but not something I am up to speed with. I believe it involves a package called 'Samba'.

I have successfully connected to shared folders on a Iomega Home Network Drive from the Raspberry Pi, see HERE.

The process for resizing the partitions to fill the card is covered in the wiki at http://elinux.org/RPi_Resize_Flash_Partitions? That covers how to do it using a Linux ox, or how to do it in-situ on the Pi itself.

I'm running Debian Squeeze, how do i resize it? And how do i install Wheezy (only to try) i have no linux machine only windows, so i need a .img file to place on sdcard.

About the share folders, i need something to upload from distance (not same network) easily files in a remote folder. Just like dropbox.

Debian Wheezy is available from HERE.

For resizing I mount the SD-card in a USB adapter connected to a virtual machine running a live ISO of GParted.
