I have a Rasp Rev 2 and a Piface. I have ordered one of the new Raspi's. My question is, the old Pi has a 26 pin GPIO's and the new one has 40 pins. Is there any way I can connect the new Pi to the Piface?
Cheers
Brian

Re: Raspi 2 and Piface
You need the new Piface Digital 2:

Mine works very well.
I think that the old Piface Digital should work with the RPi 2, but there might be mechanical problems unless you connect them with a ribbon cable.

Actually, ribbon cables are less likely to fit than the connectors used on add on boards...leon_heller wrote:I think that the old Piface Digital should work with the RPi 2, but there might be mechanical problems unless you connect them with a ribbon cable.

You are right, I just checked it. Actually, I wasn't thinking of the connector but other components getting in the way.

Re: Raspi 2 and Piface
You will need the very latest PiFace libraries, there's a bug introduced with the 3.18.x kernels that breaks the PiFace code. The 2B can't run on anything earlier than a 3.18.5 kernel.

Thanks for your replies. I decided to order a new one and will try and sell my old one.

Re: Raspi 2 and Piface
As a matter of interest, I had my old one connected to the Pi via a ribbon cable and a port saver adapter. Does anyone know if a 40 pin port adapter is available? I could then get a standard 40 pin female - female ribbon cable. Or would it be better to get a male to female ribbon cable?
Hope I'm not confusing anyone, I think I know what I mean

Re: Raspi 2 and Piface
I connected my original PiFace board to my new model 2 B using a $2 stacking header like this http://www.adafruit.com/products/1112. Propped the other side of the board up and put a couple of cable ties around the 2 boards to keep them together. Works well.
Re: Raspi 2 and Piface
But the stacking header is 26 pin, the new Pi is 40 pin. What am I missing?

Re: Raspi 2 and Piface
The original PiFace board is only 26 pin and they are exactly compatible with the first 26 pins of the new Pi 2.meddyliol wrote:But the stacking header is 26 pin, the new Pi is 40 pin. What am I missing?
