How to turn on Raspberry Pi 2 with TV remote control?

Mon Feb 23, 2015 4:48 pm

Hello,
I bought Raspbetty Pi 2, which I connected to the TV via HMDI-sec. I installed Openelec system v. 5.0.2. I plugged the power adapter 5v 2.1A to Pi2.
Everything is working perfectly, I can control the TV's remote control Raspberry Pi.
But the problem is that, as I turn off the tv and rapsberry, the pilot can only switch on the TV, not Raspberry! To turn on Raspberry I have for a while, disconnect the power supply.

If the power Raspberry with TV's USB port that can be launched from the TV remote control Raspberry, but I'm thinking that this is not a good solution. In TV-usb port is power only about 0.5A, Raspberry need minimum 2A.

Can we turn on the TV remote control Raspberry Pi 2? Please, help me.

You could use a master/slave power strip. Plug the tv into the master spot and when you turn on the tv the strip will activate the other slave receptacles .

Without additional hardware, you can't. Once the Pi is shutdown, only a power-cycle or shorting the reset pins will reboot it.

This is very good idea to use a master/slave power strip. Thank you!

I use this www.msldigital.com IR power switch. You can program the on/off function for any remote and when shutting down it will do a proper shutdown on the Pi :)
