past root IMAGE OS SD card storage 256 Gig SD

Sat Jul 31, 2021 7:47 pm

I understand the "root" OS image will overwrite its own space (aprox 4 gigs) on ANY sd card size leaving the balance of the "HUGE" sd card basically empty. Once OS image is installed can that RPI os then format the balance of say a 256 gig sd card for use as storage?

If you write a Raspberry Pi OS image to a 256GB SD card, the first time you start it up, the ROOT partition will automatically be resized to use the entire device.
