Flash in 2020/02 Buster for Pi4/Chromium

Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:21 pm

I was happy when i read Flash is supported with the new Buster.
I made a clean install for my Pi4 and when started Chromium browser, i see the 2nd tab for Adobe Flash.
However, when i start my own flash panorama, it says, flashplayer is required. So why?
(yes, i know Flash is outdated, nobody use it, security risk, etc, etc, but i like to see the perfromance of my panos in this mode)

Should i enable somewhere?

I believe you're having a problem similar to mine. Flash Player is "installed", but it seems to work only for chromium, while we need it outside of the browser.

I'm trying to run a game, "Super Smash Flash 2", but it simply won't run, be by itself or through terminal. The game comes with instructions to install adobe-flashplayer manually through console commands but this attempt always outputs an error saying the package is likely obsolete [we know it is... Doesn't mean we can let it go.]

Help is appreciated!

You need to enable in chromium-browser

Type about:plugins into the address bar at the top of a Chromium browser window.

Find the Flash listing on the Plug-ins page and click the corresponding Enable button.

Close all Chromium windows and restart the browser.

wait, i like to use it inside chromium...

Have you tried? Because about:plugins doesn't work.
It automatically replaced with chrome://plugins, and it says "website not available"..

ok, thanks i got it :)
now my pano works, but not faster than html5/webgl
I think Pi4 is not fast enough for rotating in 1080 fullscreen at 60fps.
Any chance in the future to have vsync enabled in the gui?

Probably not in software. That's a huge amount of work and SDRAM bandwidth when done in the browser.

We are trying to figure out how to decrease tearing in the GUI which is presumably what you are getting at. It's not simply a matter of enabling vsync, otherwise we would already have done it.

That's what I'm talking about. I CAN run it inside chromium... And only when I turn it on manually after the page asks if I want to run.

This game doesn't need the browser to run, it has its own executable file... But it won't open on my Raspbian. It does obviously works when I visit the main page of that site and on windows, but the browser option makes it run badly. I was hoping that running it directly would make things smoth.
