How can i connect a 8 circuit Molex receptacle to a raspberry pi?

Tue Feb 13, 2018 10:12 pm

I have no idea if this is the right subforum to post this question, but it seemed the most appropriate!
I have a dryer with a machine control payment system interface circuit and the following pin-outs connected to a cable:

The cable ends wih the Micro-Fit 3.0 Molex Receptacle

How can i connect a 8 circuit Molex receptacle to a raspberry pi to directly power the pi and sending data to the machine control? Are there any adapters available to avoid soldering?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you will find an adaptor to connect a mico fit 3.0 molex connector to the pi gpio.

There are very few if any adaptors for connecting existing connectors to the pi gpio.

I hope you have checked that the voltages on the interfaces are compatible with the Pi?

Cut the wires and use a terminal strip block of some sort: https://www.google.com/search?q=screw+t ... FjE4bd-uqM:
If you don't want to cut the wires then you would need to purchase a mating Molex plug + Mating pins + a suitable crimp tool.
You could then make a 'pigtale' with screw terminal block on the other end etc.

You will likely need voltage shifter circuit between the RPi and the machine.

The RPi does not have a SPI SCI bus so are you going to add a microprocessor with SPI SCI or are you going to attempt to 'bit bang' the SPI SCI protocol?

Do you have the manufactures documentation which describes the commands set or how to control the machine via SCI?

I think you mean SCI bus. The Pi does have SPI.
