Update FreeBSD 11.0

Thu Jan 15, 2015 9:34 am

Hi,

I installed FreeBSD-11.0-CURRENT-arm-armv6-RPI-B-20150111-r276981.img.
Now, how can I update FreeBSD 11.0?

Code: Select all

# freebsd-update fetch
Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 5 mirrors found.
Fetching public key from update5.freebsd.org... failed.
Fetching public key from update4.freebsd.org... failed.
Fetching public key from update2.freebsd.org... failed.
Fetching public key from update6.freebsd.org... failed.
Fetching public key from update3.freebsd.org... failed.
No mirrors remaining, giving up.
I have read that only RELEASE version can be updated.
Where can I change a flag/config for fetching a reporitory?

Please see the following documentation:
man freebsd-update
FreeBSD Handbook Chapter 24. Updating and Upgrading FreeBSD

The upshot is that freebsd-update can only be used if someone (the "FreeBSD Security Team") is building binary updates for your build of FreeBSD. I am under the impression nobody builds binary updates for the current or stable versions of FreeBSD. freebsd-update is generally only useful if you are using an official release version of FreeBSD.

As far as I understand, you will have to rebuild FreeBSD to pull in updates if you are using some flavor of a custom build. If you downloaded an 11.0-CURRENT image, that is essentially a custom build someone else prepared.
FreeBSD Handbook Chapter 9. Configuring the FreeBSD Kernel

I do not know if anyone is building binary updates for Raspberry Pi, but you might be able to use freebsd-update if you revert to the latest release version.
