portsnap fetch hangs

Sun Sep 21, 2014 4:27 pm

I am trying to install the ports collection according to:
https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO88 ... using.html
But I have been waiting for this for half an hour:
"Verifying snapshot integrity..."
I downloaded the latest image from:
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snaps ... MAGES/10.0
so my system is:
FreeBSD martin_rpi_srv 10.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE #0 r260789: Fri Jan 31 18:40:22 UTC 2014 [email protected]:/usr/obj/arm.armv6/usr/src/sys/RPI-B arm

Minutes after I posted this it, portsnap finished ... allmost one hour after it started verifying the snapchots integrity. I don't understand that. Usually making an sha checksum and comparing it takes only a few seconds. Does the RPI's missing floating point computing unit cause this?

The end of the extract process does take a bit to run through. If you end up canceling the process it ends up causing havoc on the ports directory. You pretty much have to rebuild the who thing at that point.
