Hey everyone,
I am new to FreeBSD and i know in Raspbian you type "startx" to start the desktop.
I thought you might have to do the same for this, but this is not the case.
Does anyone Know how im supposed to start the desktop?

This is the image i have http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/3094

Thanks!

I believe it is command line only and a desktop environment needs to be installed..

By the way there is also NetBSD here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/3145

I have not used either version of BSD

You have to build it

cd /usr/ports/x11-servers/xorg-server && make install clean

I know this is an old post but... before you can build it as suggested you have to establish an internet connection and get a list of ports

1. establish internet connection

2. on command line:
portsnap fetch

3. on commande line
portsnap extract

There is an "unofficial" package repository at:

http://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:11:armv6/quarterly/All/

I've used this to install Xorg, and believe me it's faster than compiling it all on a Pi!

Hmm - just realized this is a serious necro-bump. Sorry.

Which Desktop Manager is recommended for RPi?
