FreeBSD: No Drivers SCFB available

Tue Dec 26, 2017 10:28 am

Hello

I have created xorg.conf with :

Code: Select all

Section "Device"
Identifier "Generic FB"
Driver "scfb"
Option "NoAccel" "True"
# Option "ShadowFB" "False" #
EndSection
But the log of startx tells that no module for driver "scfb" can be found. It seems that X11 will not work on Freebsd.

uname -a gives: FreeBSD generic 12.0-CURRENT #0 r327038, 2017 arm64

Any help would be greatly helpful.

Thank you

I reinstall it ! ;) and I will try it,

(my sd card will have: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snaps ... MAGES/12.0)
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snaps ... 038.img.xz
from https://wiki.freebsd.org/FreeBSD/arm/Raspberry%20Pi from RPI3 info link.

I have reinstalled, installed the xf86-video-scfb !!

I read here:
https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/x-config.html

Xorg -configure does not do anything. It tells me : list of video drivers modesettings and scfb.
scfb trace: probe strar
no devices to configure. configuration failed.

Code: Select all

pkg install xf86-video-scfb twm xclock xinit less
LeaveVT

It enters into VT, but leaves it immedialy :( X11 does not stay, just vanish to tty after 1 second.

I can see the TWM loaded, into framebuffer, but i am into TTY (no X11) :(

SOLVED !!

I needed to install xorg (1gb) and to remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Code: Select all

pkg install twm xorg xterm xauth
Done ! X11 works on RPI3 !!!!

Return to “FreeBSD”
