Welcome to RaspBSD (FreeBSD)

Mon Aug 24, 2015 12:23 pm

RaspBSD is a image of FreeBSD 11 that is preconfigured in two different images for Raspberry Pi Computers

How can I differentiate between the 2 images?

How different is this one from the official FreeBSD images?

Thanks!

Hi again!

This whole raspBSD.org is totally dead, apparently? Who was behind that?
Kind regards

Can't fault you for that! Looks like the FreeBSD community has embraced the RaspberryPi directly https://www.freebsd.org/platforms/arm.html

Really interesting!

Will have to read more, but I'm interested especially 10.3 and apparently this supports only ARM 6 ?!?
Kind regards

Yes the FreeBSD image is based of ARMv6 but does it matter, is does support RPi 2B ???

Or would NetBSD suffice ?

Hi!

The CURRENT (10.3) does support the Raspi 2? Wow, didn't get that!

I tried to boot a Raspi 2B+ from the same FreeBSD SD card image that works correctly on the Raspi 1B, but I only get a rainbow screen (same on Raspi 3), that's why I posted this here:

viewtopic.php?p=993850#p993850

Anybody out there who made the RPI-B SD card image from the official FreeBSD homepage work on a Raspi 2B?

https://www.freebsd.org/where.html

Or do I have to go this way:

viewtopic.php?f=85&t=90613

?

:-)
Kind regards

This page show differing images for RPi 1 and RPi 2, but as yet no RPi 3, even newer FreeBSD 11

Many thanks, now I found it on the wiki page:

"Raspberry Pi snapshots are available for

FreeBSD 10.3-PRERELEASE for RPI-B and

FreeBSD 11-CURRENT for RPI-B and RPI2. "

So no 10.3 on raspi 2, that's the info I was looking for! ;-)
Kind regards
