Pi Store install failed

Mon Dec 31, 2012 11:57 pm

I see someone had the install fail and went back to square one - blank SD. My install failed the first time. I shutdown and removed power, then I rebooted and used 'sudo apt-get install pistore'. I watched it proceed and noticed it added new packages and had no errors. I entered 'pistore' in an lxterminal window and I was up and running. Before starting over on configuring the whole O/S, you might want to try this less drastic approach.

Hope that helps

I seem to have a similar error

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/pistore: line 16: /home/pi/indiecity/pistore/Scripts.log: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/pistore: line 29: /home/pi/indiecity/pistore/Scripts.log: No such file or directory
Pi Store would like your permission to create an 'indiecity' group on this Pi. You may have to enter your sudo password.
tee: /home/pi/indiecity/pistore/Scripts.log: No such file or directory
addgroup: The group `indiecity' already exists.
tee: /home/pi/indiecity/pistore/Scripts.log: No such file or directory
ERROR: Could not add indiecity group.
/usr/bin/pistore: line 41: /home/pi/indiecity/pistore/Scripts.log: No such file or directory
This is a pretty fresh install, did try and update, but came back with the result the 'pistore' was up to date. Will try a cold reboot to see what occurs.

Slight addendum to the above, I am actually running the 'Pistore" app under a different user account (edited the code above to show the 'Pi' user).

Logged on as the Pi user and all looks OK.

Is this supposed to work like this or should all users be able to access the store, or is there additional config required for other users?

Hi there!

Yeah, Pi Store should work with all users. If the user account is not a member of the indiecity group, then it will try to add it when you start Pi Store for the first time.

Unfortunately, there's an error with our script logging system (which is what you're seeing), but this will be fixed in the next update which should be out soon. Alternatively, you can call "mkdir -p $HOME/indiecity/pistore" and this should allow you to proceed. :)

Hope that helps,

Hi, the Pi Store comes with the latest Raspbian, bravo. However I clicked download on something (after I registered), then it shows a list of my library or whatever it is called (I forgot exactly, I'm on a PC atm)... but there is nothing listed there, and if it downloaded a book to the Pi, I don't know where it is.

Does downloading work for you?

Hi, I'm blind and was wondering if there is a command way of using the pistore, either from the pi or from a webpage on another computer?

You should just be able to type 'pistore' into a terminal window on a Pi, if that's any help to you. There's no default hotkey set-up though, or anything of that kind. What sort of mechanism would you find most useful?

Anywhere where you can get internet access - it is an online shop only.

Depends where you are. Lots of mail order (like Newark), and in person in places like Sayal (a bit expensive) or Creatron (two locations in Toronto; the owner now works out of the store on Sheppard Ave, and is most helpful in picking out the stuff you need).

You know that the Molson Canada "Canada Day" national-anthem-recognizing beer fridge used a Raspberry Pi? Here's what they did: The Beer Fridge - O Canada | Behind the Scenes | Molson Canadian - YouTube

Hi, I have tried to install pistore to Raspbian Jessie. This fails with

Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package pistore

- Any ideas why this fails or is this a temporary missing link on the server?
