Why is the Pi Store dead? It seemed better than Add or Remove Software. Is it possible to use Ubuntu Software Center on the Pi?
Because the Pi Store was a commercial venture which failed and the company ceased operation.
That was never intended to be the sole source for software packages and only had very few programs compared with the 55000 + packages in the repository.
I prefer to use the Synaptic package manager which is much better than the Add/Remove Software app.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install synaptic
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Stretch w/ Desktop OS.
