directory in Duser.home= not followed

Wed Jul 28, 2021 4:13 pm

I have a Java app and this app produce some files which are stored in /home/pi in an own directory starting with a period and then a name. All these files are hidden. But I don't want those files in the directory /home/pi, I want them on a usb stick, in this way I can use the data on more systems. I use Duser.home= in the java line
java -Duser.home='/media/pi/Volume van 31 GB/Data/Database' -cp ${LCP} net.sf.name_app.Start $1. I swapped the "Volume van 31 GB" with the xxxx-yyyy drive name, but also this didn't work. Something seems wrong, but what?
The program starts anyway and write its data in /home/pi/.name_app and not in what is given with -Duser.home.

I was wrong, it follows the -Duser.home directive. But why keep that hidden?
