How to disable "no gamepads detected" EmulationStation

I prefer plugging in my controller after it’s booted up. There’s no need to configure it after plugging it in again. It’s the same controller I’ve been using so I doubt it needs to configured everytime. Can someone help me please? How can I disable the “no gamepads detected” code in retro pie/EmulationStation.

Hi,

configure a keyboard once. Even if it is not plugged, you will never have the no gamepad message again.

Bye

I believe that I have a keyboard configured, but I still get the "no gamepad detected". Even when I do hook up a gamepad, the keyboard is not recognized.

I have arcade buttons hooked up to the GPIO and using pikeyd to configure them. I have all the buttons set to keyboard buttons but it doesn't see that the keyboard is there. If I plug in a 360 controller and configure it, it will go to the games, but the keyboard(control panel) still won't be registered.

If I hit f4 and go back to the command prompt, the control panel buttons work and type in the configured keystrokes.

How do I get it to use the buttons for the controller?

Thank you in advance!
