Sending command before RetroPi GUI boot

Sat Nov 29, 2014 2:17 pm

Hi, I would like to execute a couple of lines of command line code before the graphical part of the boot process kicks in. I'm from a DOS background and am new to Linux. Is there a file a can edit where I can add a couple of lines of command line code before the graphical mode kicks in?
Thanks!

In Unix (and linux)

/etc/rc.local

is the rough equivalent of old dos AUTOEXEC.BAT

You can stick commands on the end, but most should have a '&' after them to launch in the background, and some may need to be SUID root (google suid for docs) if they need root access.

Example:

/usr/bin/mycommand &
