Enemy Territory

Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:33 pm

I just had a fantastic idea and fond memories of this game. Found the source code tweaked it and started to build it. I have managed so far to get about 10 mins in to the build process but obviously got stuck with unknown architecture. Anyone know if this one is possible because its based on Q3 i beleive.

I think this is a brilliant idea. I just thought of it myself and see you all have as well. I may do this at some point soon. My key curiosity on this project is optimizing the GPU usage. Here's the source code to compile: https://github.com/id-Software/Enemy-Territory

Good luck all!

I could get most of the code to compile. But I ran into a snag.

Install Scons (scons.org)
- wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scon ... 2.0.tar.gz
- gunzip scons-2.2.0.tar.gz
- tar -xf scons-2.2.0.tar
- cd <scons directory>
- sudo python setup.py install --standard-lib

Then in the E.T. source directory edit out any instance of '-m32' from the text configuration files.

Then I tried the install by typing 'sudo scons'

It worked until it got to unix/unix_main.c
It complained about an unrecognized arch type and a non void reached. So if you edit the C code in the file to recognize the system I think you're all set.

Have you got any results? If so, could you make a quick step-by-step tutorial how to do it, for complete noobs like me.

horrible day to post something but still.

have you seen http://www.etlegacy.com/projects/etlegacy ?
Its a maintained version of ET, it might be easier to get it working. I'm attempting a build right now :)

considering the specs it might be possible to run a very small dedicated server :) good for lan party's :)

not yet, I am taking the source from the pandora version and will be trying to get that to work, but with my limited knowledge, my progress is the equivalent of stumbling through a house in the dark with no flashlight. :)
