If alot of people want a certain emulator, I would have no problem including it. Although I did try to add the most popular.

Thunder, what other emulators do you want? I'm more than willing to help you add them :) Its quite easy. One day this next week, I'll add a tutorial for adding emulators

Joystick support is disabled in xbmc. There are ways however to use your controller with xbmc. I personally use the xboxdrv and map keyboard commands to the controller. Not easy to setup, but works well.

This is probably the stupidest question you're going to get in this thread. I just got my Pi, and never used Linux before (*ducks head*)

I've booted into UltraSlim and have configured my controller and updated the emulators I wanted to use. I've been able to use XBMC just fine.

I just cannot figure out how to actually get into the emulators themselves.

I must be missing something that is staring at me in the face, but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.

The options I see are:
01 - Raspi-Config
02 - Configure Joystick 0 Retroarch
03 - Update Emulators
ES Scraper
LXDE (Desktop)
Openbox (minimal desktop)
Quake III Arena
XBMC

Welcome to the Forum! I believe they only appear in the Menu if there are ROMS in the folder for the appropriate emulator (or in the case of PlayStation Image files).

This is a "little" off-topic, but is there a way I can install your XBMC binaries into my existing Raspbian?

All I'm finding is really old binary instructions for doing this, and it looks like you have the most recent attached to the top post in the thread?

Thanks

Hi, I've just installed and setup Ultraslim and everything looks good so far.

However, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to samba shares, and although in XMBC I can find my computers name, it says connection refused. I presume it's because I don't have the username of either my pi or the computer saved in a specific place.

Can anyone give me a quick couple of pointers?

Thanks

Hi,

First of all, this is a great distro where I can use Emulationstation and XBMC at the same time (sdcard).
Great !

The emulators are more rescent and run more stable than my old Emulation station home made version from 1 year ago :-)

So i guess i will be moving my roms to this version i think.
I had some problems setting up my logitech precision joystick config file (from old emulation station file), but now they work :-)

I only have 1 problem left and that is my IR remote control for XBMC.

Previously I used OpenELEC with my Harmony 525 IR controller.
This worked great out of the box on OpenELEC.

But it does'nt work on this distro.
I tried copying the file lircd.conf (that worked on openELEC) to this distro like you said:

Lirc (remote support) is installed and enabled. Just copy your lircd.conf to /etc/lirc.

But it doesn't work.

on terminal lirc get's detected.
I followed also: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... p?&t=26946

Here some logs:
pi@UltraSlim ~ $ dmesg | grep lirc
[ 11.703015] lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, major 248

pi@UltraSlim ~ $ sudo /etc/init.d/lirc restart

If I restart lirc I get more virtual inputx numbers?

If I kill the proces that used lirc and do : sudo mode2 -d /dev/lirc0
then I see the codes when pressing buttons on my IR remote.

So I think Lirc works, but XBMC can't see them ?

anyone got lirc working on this UltraSim distro ?

Thanks in advance

Is your remote not mapped to keyboard command's? If not, you might need a custom xbmc remote.xml. Try pulling it from openelec.
As far as the Samba issue goes, that sounds like you need to set up your share correctly on your pc. If it is using a password, make sure you tell xbmc what the username/pass is.

hello Takenover83,

I would like to know how to install Libretro for Turbografx with UltraSlim.

i have trying to put the RetroPie binarie of mednafen-pce-libretro to UltraSlim , and Video is ok, but not the sound.

many lags with the sound under UltraSlim and not under RetroPie.

Do you have an idea to include mednafen-pce-libretro correctly under UltraSlim ?

I'm using the mame4all_pi mame instead of the retroarch for this excellent image but have trouble getting my Xin-Mo Dual Controller to work. I read the tip about enabling it by device_joystick auto / device_joystick raw but can't really find those settings in mame4all_pi. I've done the jscal etc from the shell and the Xin-Mo works perfectly in the emulationstation itself...

Also - some roms work when I start mame4all_pi from the shell but not from emulationstation. Is there a BIOS override somewhere?

Thanks!

Not sure about WiFi (it may be LAN only?), I do know XBMC requires a LAN connection first to add the correct drivers for WiFi (Go into Settings, then install Add-Ons, then select Program Add-Ons and add Network Manager). Quake will require .pak files in the Quake directory to work. The emulators similarly, once you have placed a ROM or CD Image (for PlayStation, usually .bin/.cue) the requisite emulator/game title will appear in the Menu.

Wifi works fine. You just have to configure it. I use wifi on 1.5 with my 2nd pi.

Due to the nature of Copyright Law please DO NOT -
1. Ask for ROMS
2. Ask where they can be downloaded
3. Post links to Download Sites and/or ROM files

However, they can be easily found by using your favourite Internet Browser, just search for, 'SNES ROMS', 'MAME ROMS' etc. Once you have located/downloaded your files there is a Roms folder in the Directory structure (just go into LXDE for ease of browsing) and place them inside. The Game Title in the appropriate Emulator should now appear in the UltraSlim Menu.

ultraslim also has samba setup, so you can naviage to your roms folder from another computer on the network

Allright, I got it. Being a bit noobish, not meaning any harm ...
Got xbmc to behave finally, but, yahoo don't want to log on ... So all the clips relying onyoutube fail to open. Vimeo works a treat though.

Really love the distro! You got everything ...

Installed that Image after i got too frustrated.
Worked quite well. Well at least i was finally able to play games and movies without changing the SD card.
The only problem i have is that the games are lagging and i've used the fast overclock. I might try to use the turbo-config but if i remember correctly i already tried that and had a kernel panic on boot.
I also get a Kernel bug and system freeze if i plug in my Xbox 360 wireless receiver or boot with it plugged in my external USB hub.
One suggestion for the Image itself:
My TV supports CEC which turns my TV off automatically when exiting XBMC. You might want to turn that off.

Odd, which emulators are slow? Also a new raspbian kernel/driver update is available which is much more stable and less prone to SD Card corruption at high overclock settings, see link

i did an rpi-update yesterday but nothing changed after that...
I'm testing the NES emulator with Tetris and the SNES emulator with Mario RPG.
Tetris runs smoothly... except the regular appearing lags every 3rd second or so.

I'm currently updating the emulators and see if that will help...
I'm running the standard "High" overclocking preset.
