Im making a raspberry pi all-in-one game console

Tue Oct 15, 2013 12:00 pm

I might give up on my portable idea...I didn't want to blow up the house. so im making an all in one console instead. Its going to have xbmc,retro-pi,and a desktop image...I have several problems with this though...
1. I need a computer fan so I got this "cooler master sickleflow 120mm blue led computer case fan (R4-L2R-20AC-GP)" off amazon and i don't know how many volts is needed.
2.im getting a power swithch off adafruit and I need to know how to wire it on to my console.
3.i need a good voltage regulator for the pi...just in case...but no matter how hard I look I can't find one!
4.i want to put in 4 usb ports going sideways but...i can't find that either!!!

anyway you get the idea...please try to answer all my questions...and i might post some more later on.

1. Fan is 12V according to http://www.coolermaster.com/product/Det ... e-led.html. Is the fan for the pi? Because it most likely will not need one (topic beaten to death, that always resurrects).
2. Don't know what that is, but if you are looking for a power switch, you'd need one that signals the pi to gracefully shutdown to prevent SD card corruption.
3. An lm2596 module off eBay works great. Just have to make sure you have a good USB cable if not directly power the pi.
4. Can't help you there.

Hope that helps in you quest for an all in one console.
