Thanks. I don't think that wad files should count, as there are so many. But, if you want to keep that post updated with a list of wads, you're welcome! Where can I find NXEngine?

Ok. Thanks. I'll put the WAD link back then. The update had mostly to do with PRBoom being unstable without X and removal of WAD link.

NXEngine aka "Cave Story". It's a NXEngine port of Cave Story to run on the Pi, it's in the Pi Store remember?

No problem. I appreciate the list you've done a lot. I've done a lot of work myself to help with your post especially since it's a go to list for Pi Forums. I've taken an effort to not just give yes or no if a game works but also share some of my experience of playing the games and trouble shooting them too.

You may want to add to your post at the bottom as a foot note (it's up to you) that I have some explanations on this post: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 30#p675330

Special special note I've found a good resource for fixing a issue a lot of games encounter with having black screen when started from terminal. It affects games like ScummVM, PrBoom and FreeDroidRPG. The bug has to do with a SDL file library that is buggy as of the new Raspbian good firmware update at the launch of Raspberry Pi 2. This Bug will probably be patched in the next Raspbian Image release after Febuary 2015 but if users want the fix it now they can check: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 73#p707673

I've also incorporated directions on this in my super long post with all the games I've tried out.

Awesome :o :geek: I can't believe it.

I'll be getting my Pi2B soon which I'll update my experience with some games that were hardly playable. But if things go according to plan. I'll be selling my PiB+ so I'll no longer be able to test games for older Pis (gotta save money)

Yeah, I have a $100 Adafruit voucher somewhere (from an Instructables competition, as I recall. They were meant to send me an Intel Edison starter kit with the Grove seeed starter kit. Got lost in the post, so they just gave me this instead. Rather have had the Edison though :( ). Probably it will go into a Pi 2. Awesome YouTube channel by the way :D.

Yeah I really like the Pi as a fun project to learn Linux OS. Glad you like my YouTube channel, haven't been able to do the amount of videos like I used to but I try :D

Yeah. Don't know what I'm going to do with my old Pi yet. Maybe a permanent installation for something. Or maybe sell it.

I plan on selling my PiB+ because I have not use for two of them :| especially with the Pi2B being so much more powerful :geek: Thus far I have a good potential home for my old one. :D

But back to the games stuff. I plan on testing more games with the Pi2B and hopefully more of those Raspbian apt-get games will work. I got FreedroidRPG to run on B+ but I'm interested in how PRboom and others handle on Pi2. I'm mostly interested in quality games that are interesting to my own personal taste so if the game seems  I'll probably pass. Games like Cave Story (NXEngine) is the style I'm interested in. That being said...

Have any suggestions for games to test that didn't work so well on PiB+ but may work on Pi2B?

I heard Jedi Knight runs amazingly well on the new Pi2. I may try getting Star Wars Dark Forces running using DosBox. But I haven't got a clue on how to configure DosBox properly for Pis.

I'll be sure to update my post with Pi2 performance information once I get it. I figure its' going to take a month or more for me to get mine shipped with the back ordering and all.

Do you know how to get Jedi Academy running on the Pi2? Using the pre-compiled files only lead to a blank screen, and I have to unplug my Pi to get rid of it.

Dosbox (as far as I know) is just apt-get. A lot of games should run a lot faster with the Pi 2. Descent is a good idea, but you have to buy the datafiles (a couple of dollars from gog), and someone ported it to the Pi, but I don't know where it is. Still, sounds good though :-)

You have to run it in X windows or update your SDL file here:

Sadly, I've tried updating my SDL files and running it in X windows. Both still lead to a blank screen.

That's a bummer. My Pi is temporarily out -of-action, so I'm afraid I can't help right now. Have you tried building it from source?

That seems to have worked! Now I can get to the main menu anyways. The game now crashes whenever I try to load a mission.

It can crash if you don't have enough video memory. I had it at 128MB if I remember correctly.
I also had problems with crashes when using a cheap PSU that didn't live up to it's specs.

Well, one step closer to success. I would try to increase the amounf of RAM that the GPU has, as above mentioned by Henrik42. If you have a Pi B rev 2+,and are running it from the console (which I guess you are), then just run it 50-50 (i.e: 256MB & 256MB either way), and see if that helps.

I'm currently trying to run it on a Pi 2 (1GB RAM) and I have my GPU memory set to 256MB. I also have the Pi's CPU overclocked to 1.1GHz.

Try un-overclocking it and giving the GPU/CPU a 50/50 share (512MB, 512MB). If all else fails, and you have a spare SD card, then try re-installing the latest version of Raspbian.

Still no luck, sadly. I set the CPU clock back to the default 900 MHz, and it still crashes when I try to start a new game.

Great list!

Xmille is a card game. The goal is to hit the finish line before your opponent by using speed cards. I addition you may restrict your opponent by using car crash cars, speed limit cards etc. To resolve them there are cards that fix those limitations.

To start you need as step 1 click the card pile to get a full hand. A Go card then open up to use speed cars to move foreward. Discard a card to be able to get a new card from the pile.

Used to play this on Solaris years ago ...
