RetroPie controller mapping

Sun Jul 21, 2013 11:33 am

Hey everyone

I've had my RPi for a little while now and I have successfully installed RetroPie and managed to configure most things to my liking so far. The only problem I'm having is I can't find any way to configure the Sega MasterSystem and Genesis control mappings. I'm currently using a PS3 controller but will switch to an Xbox 360 controller later if that matters. I've scoured the internet for any sort of information on the subject and I can't seem to find anything definitive. I might have passed by the answer unknowingly since I'm by no means an expert at Linux or terminal commands, I only started taking interest a few months back.

Any and all help would be appreciated, but I would please ask if you could explain layman term's.

Thanks in advance.

Hi xxTJxx,

I'm having the same problem with the Genesis/Megadrive emulator also using a PS3 controller over bluetooth. For me I can only use the left analogue stick and L3 buttons which is all messed up and not how they are mapped. Not sure what the problem is but I watch with interest!

I am having the same problem. My PS3 controller works for NES, SNES, and for EmulationStation. I have tried editing the DGEN config file with no luck.

I don't have an answer, but I have a suggestion. I also have a similar problem with mapping my SNES controller to DGen

Within each emulator folder there is a readme (or similarly named file) where each line starts with a "#" which voids any commands. There is a mapping chart somewhere within this file. This can be used to check to make sure your mapping format is correct.

Which version of RetroPie are you using?

Your dgenrc file is most likely here:
/opt/retropie/configs/megadrive

(I'm assuming you arent using picodrive)
