What am I doing wrong?
Hmmmm.... I would run through everything again! Sorry about that but something has obviously gone wrong with the download!

or something along those lines at all :?:

Actually, it was the memory split. I had it set at 16. Changed it to 32 and it works

Hi,

Do we know if it works on the 256mb board?

It does! My son has been playing it on both a 256MB and a 512MB Rpi.
The results were the same.

hmm, so I got this downloaded and extracted, ran the command to start it, and the window loads, but nothing happens, it just sits at a black screen? The process is using CPU power though, about 25% pretty consistently.

I had the same problem:

Shouldn't it say somewhere that:
' the minimum memory split for minecraft pi edition is 64mb'

??

Thanks anyway.

Ah, that worked for me! I had only 16 MB for GPU (as I seldom use it with a screen attached). With 64MB for GPU (in memorysplit) I have minecraft running on the Raspi.
Type raspi-config
Scroll down to memory_split
Delete the numbers in there and replace with the number 64
Press Enter
Scroll down to Finish
Reboot when prompted and retry running minecraft-pi
Thank you!

MC pi isn't very fun. it is like an old old version of pocket edition. but that is just my opinion. have fun messing with it.

I have also encountered this problem --only this didn't fix it. Are there any other solutions to try? I had it running a while ago, but for some reason it doesn't work any more. Also, I have the Model A

Hi Minecrafters,

my son is an avid MC player on his Windows PC, and I'd like to point his attention to the MC Pi ed. to maybe spawn some interest in programming. Before even trying, I have a few questions:

- Would MC Pi ed. run on a headless Pi, having XMing on his PC?

- Since the Pi ed. is such an old version, I'm afraid he might get bored quickly and turn away before even starting to dig into it. Have there been any updates since 0.1.1?

Regards, Richard

It would run on a headless pi, probably.

He probably would get bored, yes, and there haven't been any updates. If you search hard enough, there ARE a few of us who have hacked the assembly, but honestly, it's fairly bad unless you want to do Python programming. If he's using a PC to access it, he'd probably not be that interested.

The Mojang team have said a few months ago that it is not a priority, but I believe they said they are working on something. So maybe in 2050 we'll be on 0.1.2. :-)
This space is reserved for something actually useful, and will probably never be filled.

No, and no.

Although I can't find explicit documentation to prove it, minecraft pi edition seems to want to output to a display that is directly connected to the RPi.

I've asked a number of times in these forums for a way to run mcpi in a headless configuration and have never got a positive response.
