@arwyn-bach: Halo executable code is not opensource. There is NOT Halo engine open source implementation, since it's in the evil hands of Micro$oft.
I don't know/mind what that "Halo Custom Edition" is. Some kind of map extension/hack/whatever, but the Halo executable is not opensource and never will be unless Micro$oft goes belly up (wich I truly hope).
Forget it, seriously.
@pygmy_gian: I had no sheltered life at all. And for me it's very clear: capitalist = evil. I know most people are totally brainwhashed against alternatives. Not me.
Micro$oft is a business corporation: of course there's not one-evil-man scheme. That's of course a naive point of view. But Micro$oft can be defined by it's acts, and it's acts are deliberately evil if we take them and analyze them as a whole:
-They totally took over the desktop OS market with the worst ever OS I've known, running on the worst and most expensive hardware I've ever suffered: the clunky, ugly, power-inefficient and failure-prone IBM-PC sub-standard.
I won't come to a full analysis here on how it came to be, but I know (and so do you) there were far better alternatives. There was no need to rule the desktop world as ong as format interoperability was followed.
It was not a case of "survival of the fittest" , it was a global abuse, and brought us to this point in history where most desktop computers use a broken OS that doesn't try to follow any standard because they just don't need to: they impose people it's propietary, broken and closed filesystems, fileformats and interface implementation (files, threads, events...everything!!).
-Micro$oft DOES attack alternative operating systems: they forced the european laws that forbid selling computers without a preinstalled OS. They also invade, like an evil cancer, every public administration in most european countries. Public money is destined to pay for their scumbag sub-ware everywhere in Europe because they press so hard on goverments to get there instead of the open source solutions they should morally choose.
-Micro$oft attacks open source software in schools: they press hard to be there to enslave children minds so they can only use their products. They create young slaves, disabled users who fear to learn how a computer works, how to work with another OS and irresponsible slaves who can't fix any code, be it small fixes to make their workflow better or bigger changes that would benefit every human around the world.
-Micro$oft attacks alternative operating systems from the selling points, too: I know of at least two major scumbag-PC vendors here with shops all around the country with Micro$oft awards. They control the retail so Micro$oft-free computers are rare and expensive by economically encouraging their products on new computer: they even subvention part of the final price if they know about a similar offer with other OS in the same price range, so the situation gets so ridiculous as to have Linux computers being way more expensive than the same computer with Micro$oft bloat-shit inside.
This I've seen with my own eyes, as I used to work as a computer technician when I was studying, years ago.
I could go on for hours, but my hate for Micro$oft is so immensely big that I really get to a point where I get too aggressive for souch a good forum.
