I've never heard of Super Crate Box but I'll go out on a limb and say that what you have downloaded is NOT something compatible with the raspberry pi.
Does the website you downloaded it from mention anything about supporting a. Linux b. ARM Processors c. Raspberry Pis?

The Pi version is downloadable from here:

https://yoyogames.com/pi

Make sure you have your GPU Memory set to 256MB and graphics driver set to 'Legacy'

Double clicking 'SuperCrateBox' then selecting execute should work.

From the command prompt (assuming in folder /home/pi/SuperCrateBox) use:

Code: Select all

cd ~/SuperCrateBox
./SuperCrateBox

GPU Memory can be set in either 'Applications Menu', 'Preferences', 'Raspberry Pi Configuration' then 'Performance' tab or from the command line:

Code: Select all

sudo raspi-config
then 'Advanced Options', 'Memory Split'

Graphics driver can only be set using command line utility 'sudo raspi-config' then 'Advanced Options', 'GL Driver' select 'Legacy'

I thought one could just edit config.txt?

Of course, raspi-config is much easier.

Yes, for the pedantic amongst you, you can edit the \boot\config.txt to change the graphics driver. I was referring to the fact that the option is not available in the Desktop Config utility. Not for the new user though!

For the really pedantic, you can edit /boot/config.txt

Assuming your using the latest Raspbian Stretch and you have MinecraftPi installed try:

Code: Select all

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/minecraft-pi/lib/brcm ./SuperCrateBox

For what it's worth, some time ago I got Super Crate Box running with Mesa instead of the legacy driver.

https://github.com/jdonald/gamemaker-rpi-wrapper

That may be more useful now that the Pi 4 defaults to the new driver.
