Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
Is it possible to install and play on minecraft 1.13 on raspherry PI 3?
Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
Minecraft Raspberrypi comes pre installed on raspbien
Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
but not the pc/andriod version MC raspi is custom so the raspi can handle it but the raspi cant handle anything more than the edition it comes with
Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
Minecraft 1.13 requires LWJGL (Lightweight Java Game Library) version 3 which as far as i’m aware hasn’t been ported to the Pi arm processor.
You can get upto version 1.12.2 running on the Pi viewtopic.php?t=186547

Not to mention, the 1.13 Aquatic Update is laggy on many gaming PC's. There is no way a little Pi could handle it.
Even with 1.12.2 you have to turn the graphics settings down so low that I don't consider it playable.
I run a multi-player survival server on a Pi3B, and that works pretty well (Raspbian Lite, Oracle Java, headless with no GUI).
For actually playing the game, however, the Pi is a poor choice. I tried setting up an SMP server for 1.13, but even that was too much for a Pi3B+ (for 1.13, the Broken Laptop server was resurrected).
Sure we can.

Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
I don't see 1.13 working on the pi, simply due to all the new additions, plus LWJGL 3 isn't on the Pi yet.
However, once it does come, I see 1.13.1 or future versions potentially working (hopefully 1.13 will be significantly more optimized)
1.13 itself changed a lot about how the game works, especially with water, something that even before this, could cause massive framerate issues. Now, with all its changes, it's even worse.
For all we know, 1.12.2 may be the most recent version the RPi is able to play anywhere close to decently.

Lol, yea, large water updates are super laggy in 1.13, even on a gaming PC. Little updates, like placing a water bucket aren't bad, but when my flushing mob farm starts or stops the water it's slide-show time. In 1.12.2 the flushing barely registers any change in frame rate.

I have a feeling that MCPC is gonna become like MCPE. I downloaded MCPE on my ipad2 2 years ago. 1 year ago, they still support updates for my ipad. but what they didn't do is make it playable. Anything with more than 1GB ram is required to play MCPE now. Microsoft should still support MCPi., unfortanetly they cant because only 1 Gb ram available on a Pi.

1 * Raspberry Pi Zero W, 1 * Raspberry Pi 2, 1 * Raspberry Pi 3, 1 * Raspberry Pi 3B+, 1 * Raspberry Pi 4B

People need to stop referring to the Java Edition as the PC version.DarkPlatinum wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 6:31 pmI have a feeling that MCPC is gonna become like MCPE. There are two "PC versions" of Minecraft. The original Java Edition, and the Windows 10 version (which you get free if you purchased the Java Edition). The Windows 10 version is based on MCPE, and it's written in a compiled language (C-something, I forget which version), so it is much more performance optimized than the Java Edition. If you have an older x86 PC that's struggling with the Java Edition, try the Win10 version.
As far as our little Pi computers are concerned, there is the free Pi version, which is designed for education and is missing loads of features (like survival mode), and with some extra work we can get the Java Edition running in a somewhat playable fashion, up to version 1.12.2 anyway (the Java 1.13 Aquatic Update is laggy on a gaming PC, so there is no way a little Pi could run it at this time).
The fact that Java Edition 1.12.2 can run on a Pi3B shows that Minecraft can run on a system with only 1GB. Considering that the compiled PE version is much more optimized, if we can get Java Edition running on a Pi, MS should be able to produce an optimized PE/Bedrock/Better Together version for the Pi.
The Pi3B can also run a nice Minecraft Java Edition survival multiplayer server. My own Creeper Pie SMP server has been running for nearly a year on a Raspberry Pi model 3B. You can't run a big server with dozens of players, but for a small group of family or friends a Pi3B works very well (SpigotMC for Java Edition version 1.12.2).

Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
Don't forget the future: MC is updating LWJGL again in 1.14, so keep that in mind. Additionally, I would also LOVE to see a new version of Minecraft: Pi Edition. If Pi Edition was made for schools, that's also what Education Edition is for. Mojang for some reason can't provide minimum specs for Bedrock edition, but we'll see...
Also, what if you aren't a millennial and happen to run Windows 8.1/7? In that case, Java edition is the only PC version of Minecraft, so that's why they refer Java edition as the PC edition.

It's still wrong. It is officially known as Minecraft: Java Edition. In that case, Java edition is the only PC version of Minecraft, so that's why they refer Java edition as the PC edition.![]()
The name was changed after the Better Together/Bedrock update to differentiate it from the cross-platform compatible versions, which are now collectively known as Minecraft. You can thank Microsoft for the confusion. They decided that many of the former Editions should just be called Minecraft, with no platform association in the name, and the original Minecraft be renamed an Edition.
Yes, it's a confusing mess, which is why you should call it Minecraft: Java Edition (its proper name).
I think there was another thread about building LWGL3 for the Pi. I still have serious doubts about any current Pi model running 1.13.x in any remotely playable way. Max render distance I could achieve in 1.12.2 was only 3 chunks, which makes flying with Elytra

Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
How about the Raspberry pi 4? Could the 4gb RAM run it?
Re: Minecraft 1.13 on Raspberry Pi 3
I've managed to get running Minecraft 1.14 on the Raspberry Pi. Due to poor optimalisations it is barely playable. You can try it using my launcher (https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 3#p1514233) or manually download and rename the libraries from nightly LWJGL3 builds: https://www.lwjgl.org/browse/nightly/linux/arm32

I have 1.14.4 running on the pi4 (Raspbian) with Fabric + VoxelMap + Optifine. 30ish fps at low resolution

Nice work.
The 32-bit LWJGL3 binaries I linked in that thread worked with 1.14.3 but always gave a native pointer error on startup with 1.14.4 whenever I launched from mmlpi. Marekkon5 reported the same, so what was the key to making it work with 1.14.4?

as it turns out am in fact using the lwjgl 32 bit binaries you posted ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/y6gaickl7daob ... ar.xz?dl=0 ). Didn't do anything special here. Launching 1.14.4 (as with other versions) using -Djava.library.path=/home/pi/.minecraft/natives -Dorg.lwjgl.librarypath=/home/pi/.minecraft/natives, that folder being where I put your binaries
Running pretty much the same with oracla java 8, openJDK8, 10 or 11
