Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.12.1 on Raspberry Pi 3

1.13.2 still is not effective but is better than nothing. As you can see it shows that the server is lagging when it is "overloaded".

Minecraft 1.12.2 works really well on the RPi4! By allocating 512MB to GPU on the 2GB Pi, the game world generates much faster and tends to run between 20 and 30 fps. It plays really well now!

One thing to note with Raspbian OS Buster, it doesn’t have the correct jvm library, so I needed to copy “/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-8-oracle-arm32-vfp-hflt” from an older Pi image.

Btw should it be possible to run multiplayer between two Pis running this version of Minecraft? I couldn’t get it to work after opening the game to LAN.

Only when a 64bit OS is available for the Pi4.

Upgraded to 1.14.4, OptiFine, it installs no problem, but it won't run. Error posted below:

As far as I am aware 1.13 and above requires a 64 bit OS.

Mmm, not that I know. I'm running Java 1.14.4 on my x86 laptop. ~15FPS with a crappy GPU and CPU in local worlds. I only plan to play on servers with 1.14.4 on the Pi.

I recall the holdup earlier was not having an LWJGL3 build for armhf. Apparently they have an official one as of May: https://github.com/LWJGL/lwjgl3/issues/206

These old scripts don't stop on errors, so they'd appear to "install no problem" then print java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.minecraft.client.main.Main at the end even if you had something catastrophic from the start like a differently named homedir. You can add #!/bin/sh -e at the top of each script to debug appropriately.

To port the 1.12.1 scripts to 1.13 or above, at a minimum you'll have to make it download the LWJGL3 binary instead of LWJGL2. Alternatively you could try mmlpi which claims support for 1.14.

Also, the 1.13+ thread could be a good spot for continued discussion.

I get an error every time I try this guide:

Code: Select all

OpenJDK Server VM warning: Option UseConcMarkSweepGC was deprecated in version 9.0 and will likely be removed in a future release.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: class jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader cannot be cast to class java.net.URLClassLoader (jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader and java.net.URLClassLoader are in module java.base of loader 'bootstrap')
	at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.<init>(Launch.java:34)
	at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.main(Launch.java:28)
Any ideas?

This topic was written long ago and Raspbian no longer comes with Oracle Java 8 preinstalled.

Use a newer guide such as this one for 1.12.2: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... p?t=243946
