How to install quake3 on Raspbian the Simpler Way!

Mon Nov 28, 2016 1:13 am

Hey all,

So I was reading the forums, and stumbled onto How to install/ build/ play Quake 3.... by raspberrypiguy1. Amazing guide. I thank him for doing this :D But when I saw it, it was a bit complicated. Here is the simpler way to get quake 3. Enjoy!

Change to the directory where you will store the downloaded files:

Code: Select all

cd /home/pi/
Download the files using wget:

Code: Select all

wget http://radium.hexxeh.net/quake3.zip
wget http://www.andershizzle.com/Q3%20Demo%20Paks.zip
OR if you have registered .pk3 files, ignore the second wget
and follow as normal

Unzip the two files you just downloaded using unzip:

Code: Select all

unzip quake3.zip
unzip Q3\ Demo\ Paks.zip
Move all of the pak files that were extracted from Q3 Demo Paks.zip over to quake3/baseq3/ using the mv command:

Code: Select all

mv baseq3/pak* quake3/baseq3/
Change the file permissions using chmod:

Code: Select all

chmod +x quake3/start.sh
chmod +x quake3/ioquake3.arm
chmod +x quake3/ioq3ded.arm
Change the current directory:

Code: Select all

cd quake3
Then you can start it with the following command:

Code: Select all

./start.sh
If there is any errors, PLEASE REPLY :)

Okay, so if you have the registered pk3 files then cd to your quake3 directory

Code: Select all

cd quake3/
then perform the mv command:

Code: Select all

mv [your registered .pk3 files] baseq3
Then your done!
