Re: How to setup Minecraft 1.8.9 on RaspPi2

Tue Aug 02, 2016 5:20 am

Looks like I'm with @Professor, @weid, @RealMicahTheManiac, and @stutteringp0et, all stuck on this error:

Code: Select all

Error: Could not find or load main class net.minecraft.client.main.Main
This happens when doing

Code: Select all

./run.sh[code] on the very last step. I've followed the steps numerous times, removing .minecraft and ~/Minecraft in between attempts, with no luck.

Anybody have any advice?

Possibly not. I've gone through all the steps, but there's nothing I saw about selecting a specific version. If I run the .jar file and try to create a new profile, I only have 1.10.2 as an available option. Thoughts?

Thanks so much for any help you can offer :)

In step 7a :

If you've got the latest Minecraft.jar click 'edit profile' and select use release - 'release 1.8.9', then 'save profile'

Hi Xynus. Check out the posts right above yours, rpiMike's in particular. Probably missed step 7a, setting the right version

Hi, I have successfully installed Minecraft on my Raspberry Pi 2 however the next time I tried to play minecraft it didn't work because when I execute the run.sh it says game crashed and closes the terminal.

Hello, I am feeling a bit nostalgic today, so I was wondering how to get an alpha version working on the raspberry pi? I have already downloaded the version, but cannot get it to work. I have been playing around with the run.sh a lot and looking at ways to get it to work. Any Ideas?

You should be using raspbian if you want Minecraft, otherwise wrong topic. Also, try holding shift at boot, see if that helps

As stated above, I am running retropie which is built on TOP of raspbian. I installed the GUI thru a install script. The shifting did not help considering the fact that I forgot to mention, I am using the atrix lapdock for my display, keyboard, and mouse/trackpad.

Would you be able to do this on Ubuntu MATE on the Pi? Or only on Raspbian?

Downloading the experimental OpenGL Driver returned the following error: "Reading package lists... Error!
E: Unable to parse package file /var/lib/dpkg/status (1)
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened."

Is there a more up to date command for downloading this driver or am I doing something wrong altogether?

In step 7a, did you click 'edit profile' and select use release - 'release 1.8.9', then 'save profile' ?

Are you logged into the Pi as user 'pi' ?

Did you get the OpenGL demo glxgears running at about 60 fps?

I have got the Minecraft launcher to run on rpi2 but when I click play it gives me this error:

Code: Select all

I am getting an error after running the script:
  • Error: Could not find or load main class net.minecraft.client.main.Main
I have edited the run.sh script to add my login details, and changed the java directory (I am running Oracle Java 7 on Ubuntu Mate for the PI 3).

I have logged in to the MC launcher, and dowloaded 1.8.9. I have also done all the other steps successfully.

I got the same problem myself, but, your supposed to get that error. Just close the launcher and continue with
step 7b:
rpiMike wrote:7b Copy libraries

Code: Select all
cd ~/Minecraft/Natives && wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/4oxcvz3ky7a3x6f/liblwjgl.so && wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/m0r8e01jg2og36z/libopenal.so

8 Update lwjgl

Code: Select all
cd /home/pi/.minecraft/libraries/org/lwjgl/lwjgl/lwjgl/2.9.4-nightly-20150209 && rm lwjgl-2.9.4-nightly-20150209.jar; wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/mj15sz3bub4dm ... 150209.jar

( based on Roger Allen's tutorial : http://rogerallen.github.io/jetson/2014 ... etson-tk1/ )
9 Copy run script

Code: Select all
cd ~/Minecraft/ && wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/jkhr58apwa7pt1w/run.sh && sudo chmod +x run.sh

10 Edit run.sh, update MINECRAFT_LOGIN, MINECRAFT_USERNAME and MINECRAFT_PASSWORD (may need "" for special characters) to your own
11 From Terminal use ./run.sh

Re: Minecraft 1.8.9 on rpi2 : Minecraft 1.10.2 on RPi3

Sat Oct 01, 2016 1:10 pm

Well, I've been watching this topic for a long time, and I want to say thanks first.

As the subject said, I've found a way to run minecraft 1.10.2 on RPi3. I don't know whether someone else has successfully run minecraft 1.10.2,and it seems not. So I'm posting my solution.

First, I am not using an official launcher. I use a launcher which is called "Hello Minecraft Launcher"(which is now sold to a company). I think this launcher is good and keep using it. Download it from github (I'll give the link at last) and never update it (the newsest version contains ads and performs badly).

Second, put the launcher in a folder and launch it in the shell. The program will make ".minecraft" folder in the folder where you put the launcher in. It's easy to know how to use it, and you can ask me if you really don't know. You must download the games first and then the assets and libraries in the program (these are official). DON'T RUN THE GAME NOW!

Third, the most important part, download the jars and the libraries provided in this topic. If you are success in step2, you will find a folder called "libraries" in ".minecraft",get in here

Code: Select all

cd thefolderyoumade/.minecraft/libraries/org/lwjgl/lwjgl
Replace the jar and sha in "lwjgl/2.9.4-nightly-20150209". Open the jar in "lwjgl-platform/2.9.4-nightly-20150209" and replace the libraries in it.

Now you can play any version of minecraft on RPis (just download another version if you want).

launcher link: https://github.com/Cat7373/HMCL/releases

I'm not so active in the forum so please wait my reply or just google it if you have problems. This post may help you run minecraft 1.10.2. I only tested it on RPi3 and you can try this on your RPi2. ;)

PS: Make sure you have the latest java.

Edit:if you can't find the jars mentioned above, try to run the game once and the launcher will download the missing files , then continue step3. Try a few times and you'll success.
Poor English, perhaps.
Using RPi3.

Not using the Hello Minecraft launcher. I see that some people have got Minecraft 1.9 to run.
