Speakers for Bar top arcade machine

Wed Jan 13, 2016 4:54 pm

Like many of you I use my Pi2B for game emulation, now I want to go one step more and make my Pi into a small arcade machine. I am having trouble finding out where to buy the right kind of speakers. Doesn't need to be anything special, just enough to play the (fairly basic) music of the arcade era, and fit inside a bar top style case. Could all suggestions be for U.K. based stores and be on the "cheap and cheerful" side of things.
Thanks in advanced.

I've just just normal PC speakers as they have volume control etc. They have fitted inside my bartops, but you could always dismantle them and separate the speakers and amp circuit.

Quite a lot of them now dont come with a power supply because they are powered from PC's USB. So check that or buy another 5V USB power supply.

I have been using key-chain mp3 loudspeakers. The sound is really loud and surprisingly good. The cost is around €5, the size is a bit smaller than a golf ball. They take the power through USB and the sound through a 3.5mm headphone plug.
