arcade controller question

my friends got an old raspberry pi 0 with the classic retropi install
hes wondering if a arcade controller set up like this if it would interface with that old board

Hi.

As everything appears to be switch based you could certainly connect the switches directly to the gpio pins.

I am not sure about the USB controllers they may need a driver..

well that would mean i would have to work on it lol
hes kinda dumb when it comes to things that require work
if it dont plug and play he struggles

Well if you don't have drivers in Windows, most likely it won't have any in linux because it will use a usb compliant driver.
So I'm guessing its one of these.

otherwise:
A HID driver based joystick would have drivers you have to install regardless of OS.

Having looked at this again you might be lucky if the information in the product description is correct .
Compatible model

Win8/Win7/Vista/XP/2000/98, Linux, MAC OS, Android.Raspberry Pi 1/2/3/3B Retropie Arcade DIY Projects,MAME DIY projects,USB MAME cabinet arcade DIY projects & PC controller computer game etc.
It does list some models of pi and retropie.

true didnt see that at the bottom , appreciate the point out
i made him the raspberry pi 0 , 3/4 yrs ago for that retropi setup atari/super/sega/nes
